Calvin's Vision Come True!
Calvin's Story . . .
Calvin was a 6-8 week old puppy that was found abandoned early on the morning of November 18th, 2019. He was left outside our shelter gate in 40+ degree weather and wasn’t where he could be seen by the staff. Only by the Grace of God did he let out some cries and was found. He was hypothermic and had an oozing eye wound. He was warmed up and rushed to a veterinary hospital where it was determined that he had a traumatic head injury. He had significant cerebral/spinal fluid on his head and was full of parasitic worms. He was also blind and his prognosis for survival was highly unlikely. Calvin was brought home by one of our volunteers, not with the expectation of fostering him through recovery, to give him comfort and love in what was expected to be his final days.

Calvin's went on to live a wonderful and love-filled life for almost two years. He has adapted to his blindness with enhanced hearing and sense of smell. Calvin has given hope and inspiration to many, showing that there is no room for self-pity, that hope and prayers and a will to overcome and persevere is all we need. Our shelter, amazing volunteers, donors and prayers gave Calvin a chance and he continues to give back, by inspiring others to give and make changes to improve the lives of abused, unwanted and abandoned.

Calvin's story has been set out in a paperback and ebook, available on Amazon - "Calvin - Love Through My Eyes". All of the proceeds from these books go entirely to our animal shelter.
